Nintendo to Release Mario-Themed Switch Console in April
Nintendo has recently unveiled their newest special edition of the Switch, which is filled with a sense of nostalgia. Named the Mario Red Edition, this version pays homage to the beloved character from Nintendo’s renowned video games. The package includes a console, dock, and Joy-Con controllers, all adorned in Mario’s iconic red color. Additionally, the dock showcases a small silhouette of Mario in mid-jump, while a touch of gold is added through concealed coins.
The new design is only available in the OLED model, which was expected. The OLED version of the Switch is the company’s flagship model, and we’ve already seen similar special editions recently. Nintendo has been known to release custom consoles in conjunction with upcoming games – and since Super Mario Bros. With Wonder officially released in October, it’s no surprise to see the company create a bit of a buzz with this Mario-themed color scheme.

Additionally, we saw the release of The Super Mario Bros. movie in April. So it’s been a pretty big year for Mario and the gang. Mario Red Edition is available for purchase at the official Nintendo Store and Best Buy. It’s currently available for pre-order and costs $350, the same as the regular OLED model. Delivery is expected to start in October.
